چکیده

This paper presents the object access control and distribution strategies for the Nó// (reads parallel node) project, which aims to develop a high performance, low cost, multicomputer and a concurrent programming environment for it (Corso, 1993). Sharing resources is the main goal of multiprogramming environments (Andrews, 1990). Therefore, operating system must provide control mechanisms to make object access safety and efficient. Although there are well-known mechanisms for single memory systems, they are inadequate for distributed memory systems like Nó//. Nó// operating system is projected to have an automatic and transparent computational load distribution. In this context, process and other operating system objects, like semaphores, mail boxes and still memory segments can freely migrate from a processor to another one. In order to allow that, without using inadequate broadcasting mechanisms (Tanembaum, 1992), Nó// operating system propose the indirect capability abstraction, which is presented in this paper. The text first gives an overview of the whole project and shows how computing power can be enhanced by dynamic load-balancing system. Then, indirect capability concept is depicted to demonstrate how it allows security and transparent migration of processes and other operating system objects, improving system performance. In this context, it is discussed how Nó//’s process concept (Fröhlich et al, 1996) can be extended to allow distributed threads. Finally, it is presented a perspective analysis of distributed system evolution highlighting reliability, flexibility and efficiency.

The Solution for Resolving Inter-sentential Anaphoric Pronoun “nó” in Vietnamese Paragraphs Composing 3 to 5 Simple Sentences

This paper presents a solution for resolving inter-sentential anaphoric pronoun “nó” in Vietnamese paragraphs composing 3 to 5 simple sentences. In Vietnamese, “nó” is a special pronoun, can be used to indicate human, animal or non-animate object depending on the content and context of the paragraph (so in English, we should use “he”, “she” or “it”) . The proposed solution consists of some find...

Mathematical Analysis of Optimal Tracking Interval Management for Power Efficient Target Tracking Wireless Sensor Networks

In this paper, we study the problem of power efficient tracking interval management for distributed target tracking wireless sensor networks (WSNs). We first analyze the performance of a distributed target tracking network with one moving object, using a quantitative mathematical analysis. We show that previously proposed algorithms are efficient only for constant average velocity objects howev...

Kohonen Self Organizing for Automatic Identification of Cartographic Objects

Automatic identification and localization of cartographic objects in aerial and satellite images have gained increasing attention in recent years in digital photogrammetry and remote sensing. Although the automatic extraction of man made objects in essence is still an unresolved issue, the man made objects can be extracted from aerial photos and satellite images. Recently, the high-resolution s...

On Attributes of Objects in Object-Oriented Software Analysis

One of the modern paradigms to develop a system is object oriented analysis and design. In this paradigm, there are several objects and each object plays some specific roles. There is a sequence of activities to develop an analysis model. In the first step, we work in developing an initial use case model. Then in the second step, they identify a number of concepts and build a glossary of partic...

From Remote Objects to Physically Distributed Objects

Present-day object-oriented middleware provides little support for the distribution, replication and caching of the state of a distributed object. This makes these platforms unsuitable for the development of large-scale distributed applications. We argue that the model of distributed objects on which these middleware platforms are based hinders the addition of comprehensive distribution and rep...
